The California Highway Patrol received the first reports of the incident shortly after 3 a.m., which involved three to four vehicles. Emergency services were dispatched, with the Los Angeles Fire Department arriving on the scene. A female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities later indicated that the victim was found lying in the lanes of the freeway. The highway was closed in various sections to accommodate emergency responses and investigation efforts.
