Train passenger hurls Islamophobic abuse at woman who 'brushed against her bag'
This is the shocking moment a train passenger hurled Islamophobic abuse at a woman for allegedly brushing against her bag.
Transgender commuter Chusak shouted at Madea when she accidentally grazed her bag while taking a seat on the train speeding through Bangkok on August 29.
The vicious ladyboy began spewing invectives at a stunned Madea, who then tried to apologise.
Footage shows biologically and physically male Chusak looming over Madea, threatening her with a shoe in front of shocked passengers.
Madea, from Narathiwat in predominantly Muslim southern Thailand, endured the minutes-long tirade in silence before leaving at her stop.
Onlooker Emilie Moore, who recorded the incident, recalled: ‘That woman accused her of sitting on her bag. The victim kept apologising many times and did not respond disrespectfully at all.
'However, she continued yelling at her with rude words, insulted her for being Muslim, even cursed her parents, removed a shoe, pointed a foot in the victim's face, and threatened to slap her because ‘it's only a 500 baht fine'.'
Another witness Supak Satjasuriyakul added: ‘She was upset and crying. I was about to cry, too. Even I was shocked and shaken. Just imagine how much worse it could have been for her.
'Without even knowing it, I was holding her hand. But still, she just remained so calm and said, 'It's alright, maybe today was not a good day for me'.
'I was outraged on her behalf. It was absolutely awful.'
Chusak was later identified through her uniform, which bore the logo of Stadium One, a Bangkok sports and wellness complex.
In a statement, Stadium One confirmed Chusak had been fired for the verbal attack.
The company said: 'We confirm that the individual in the video clip is indeed a daily employee of the company. The investigation was conducted in a thorough, transparent, and fair manner.
'It was found that the individual had acted inappropriately and damaged the company's image. Consequently, we have resolved to terminate the individual's employment, effective immediately.
'Stadium One emphasises the importance of respecting the rights and human dignity of all individuals, without discrimination based on race, religion, gender, or any other difference, and is committed to the principle of equality.'
Sudarat Azzahabi, another Muslim passenger, said he accompanied Madea to the Hua Mak Subdistrict Police Station to file a complaint.
He said: '‘When I took Madea to file a complaint, she didn't want to blow up the case or demand any kind of compensation, only an apology.
'What she experienced was injustice and desecration of her dignity through insults and public humiliation. The human dignity that she deserves is proper assistance and an apology from the perpetrator.'
Police said both parties will be summoned for mediation.
