Wild monkeys raided a home and stole a cat's food before chasing away the terrified moggy.

The mischievous primate entered the property to rummage around in search of snacks in Songkhla, Thailand.

CCTV footage shows the macaque pulling the container of cat treats placed on a white container while Chaki, the curious feline, watches at the doorway on July 25.

The monkey eventually repositioned the toppled canister and opened it before walking away, as it visibly distastes the snack inside.

The six-month-old male cat then approached the treats and nibbled on them. But moments later, the wild creature returned and briefly sat in front of the eating kitty while looking around before pulling the container towards it.

Chaki can be seen hissing from being interrupted and backed away when the primate climbed onto the drawer nearby.

Seeing that the animal was occupied exploring what was on top of the furniture, the visibly hungry cat continued to eat the food.

After a little while, four more monkeys can be seen running across the rooms, chasing the hapless feline.

Pet owner Arisa Srikong said: 'Our room happens to be next to a hill. There are a lot of monkeys in the area. Our room is on the 4th floor, and we've seen monkeys on the balcony before, but whenever they see people, they leave.

'We've been raising cats for just over a year. We usually leave the balcony door open but keep the mosquito screen door closed. In the past year, we've never experienced anything like this.

'But on the day of the incident, we went out to work and came back to find the room covered in monkey droppings.

'After the incident, we took the cat to the vet for a check-up. There were no problems, and both are now healthy and strong.'

Monkeys are common in the region and are known to snatch food and even break into homes in search of meals.
