Genoa, Italy Thousands of people marched through Genoa on Thursday evening, accompanying the Global Sumud Flotilla preparing to set sail for Gaza. Leading the demonstration was Mayor Silvia Salis, wearing the tricolor sash, who expressed her support for the initiative. “I am proud to be the mayor of Genoa, even more so tonight. I participated in the torchlight procession from Music for Peace at the Porto Antico, where the Global Sumud Flotilla to the Gaza Strip will depart. Thanks to those making it possible. The whole city is by your side,” she said. The march drew broad public participation, with chants and banners calling for an end to the blockade on Gaza and solidarity with the Palestinian people. The flotilla, made up of more than 50 boats, is expected to set sail soon in an attempt to break the ongoing siege.
