The Live feature on TikTok has been unavailable for all users in Indonesia since the weekend. Both broadcasting and viewing live streams currently show only the message “unstable connection.”
Users across the country have reported the same issue, whether accessing TikTok via mobile devices or desktop computers. The sudden suspension has raised questions, as TikTok Live has long been a popular tool for entertainment, online selling, and real-time information sharing.
In response, a TikTok spokesperson issued an official statement, explaining that the restriction was linked to rising violence during recent demonstrations in Indonesia. “In light of escalating violence during protests in Indonesia, we are taking additional safety measures to ensure TikTok remains a safe and civil platform,” the spokesperson told media on Saturday night (August 30, 2025).
The company emphasized that the move was a voluntary decision to suspend the Live feature in Indonesia for the coming days, but did not provide a specific timeline for when the service would resume. “We have voluntarily suspended TikTok Live for the next few days in Indonesia,” the spokesperson added.
TikTok further stated that it will continue removing content that violates its Community Guidelines while closely monitoring the situation. As of Monday, September 1, 2025, the TikTok Live feature remains inaccessible for both streaming and viewing live broadcasts.
