Bridge swept away by river as heavy rain triggers floods in Vietnam
This is the shocking moment a concrete bridge was swept away by a raging river as heavy rain triggered flooding in Vietnam.
Footage shows an emergency worker standing near the damaged structure before it flipped on its side and was carried off by the floodwaters in Son La province on August 1.
Luong Van Vinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Huoi Mot commune, confirmed that in Ta Hoc village, rising water from the Nam Cong stream washed away the crossing that led to the Nam Cong 3 hydropower plant.
The structure was used by workers commuting to and from the plant. No injuries were reported.
Authorities declared a state of emergency in response to the severe weather conditions.
