US: Ducks Mascot Loses Head During Pre-Game Entrance At Autzen Stadium
Eugene, United States - August 30, 2025 A video filmed by Matt Hardie at the University of Oregon’s 2025 season opener shows the Ducks’ mascot, The Duck, losing its head during a pre-game entrance. The mascot tripped, the head detached, and the person inside sprinted back into the tunnel. A helper retrieved the head and the mascot returned fully restored. This was the third such incident for the mascot. Despite the mishap, Oregon won the game against Montana State, 49-14. The clip went viral, spawning memes and laughter across social media and largely overshadowing the on-field result. Matt Hardie said: “Not a great start to the season...”
