Philippines - August 29, 2025 Taal Volcano, Philippines – The Main Crater of Taal Volcano has been releasing visible degassing plumes since August 29, 2025, according to recent footage from the Main Crater (VTMC) Station. This renewed activity followed persistent but weak tremors beginning on August 27, 2025. On August 30, the volcano experienced a sudden ten-fold increase in sulfur dioxide emissions, reaching 4,514 tonnes per day. DOST-PHIVOLCS maintains Alert Level 1 for Taal Volcano and strongly advises the public to avoid the island. Authorities warn that the area could be affected by hazards from possible steam-driven or weak phreatomagmatic activity at the Main Crater. Monitoring continues as scientists track changes in volcanic activity and gas emissions.
