A tourist stunned locals when he was seen catching a large fish with bare hands on a flooded road.

Footage shows the foreigner kneeling on the swamped street before lifting out the 5kg fish from the water in Phang Nag, Thailand.

He was shirtless and wearing a bucket hat while exploring outside on a rainy day.

Onlooker Pawitchaya Janduank said: 'It was raining throughout the day and night. There was flood and he caught a beautiful gold fish swimming in the water.'

The fish was released back into the water afterwards on May 12.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
