Los Angeles, United States - September 02, 2025 09/02/2025 11:00 am GMT-0700 BURBANK, Calif. – A large, linear-shaped storm cell hovered over the central and eastern San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys Tuesday morning, stretching from the Santa Monica Mountains northward to State Route 138 in Gorman, closely following the path of the 405 Freeway. Lightning and thunder were captured in Burbank as the system crept eastward. The storm also generated strong winds, averaging 10 mph with gusts recorded as high as 22.8 mph in Burbank. The rare summer storm arrived as Southern California endures a widespread heat wave, with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees across much of the region. Humidity levels remain elevated, with relative humidity in Burbank measured at 40 percent during the storm.
