Los Angeles, United States - September 02, 2025 09/02/2025 03:24 pm GMT-0700 MISSION HILLS, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to a report of a physical rescue on the South Interstate 5, just south of Roxford. Upon arrival, crews found that a sedan had left the main lanes of the roadway and crashed into a field at the Edward M. Davis Training Facility, igniting a rapidly moving vegetation fire. The fire spread across the freeway, burning on both sides. The main body of the fire, located on the west side of the freeway, was estimated to cover approximately one acre, while the east side burned around seven acres. Firefighters quickly deployed air and ground resources to contain the blaze. At least one person was discovered deceased inside the vehicle. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner was requested to the scene, while the California Highway Patrol initiated an investigation into the cause of the crash. Crews remained on site to mop up hotspots, and three lanes of southbound Interstate 5 remained closed as firefighters continued their work on the freeway. No other injuries were reported.
