Storyline: Chinese electric fan exports catch a breeze [Voice_over] Mini fan makers in China are breezing through orders this summer as global demand for innovative cooling solutions remains steady. One fan maker in China’s Guangdong Province says among this year’s best seller are so-called “instant-cooling” fans. With a small metal plate that becomes extremely cold, these fans provide immediate heat relief. [Sound_bite] Jiang Yu, design director, fan factory: "This product mainly highlights the cooling functions. Compared with previous versions, it meets the user's need for rapid cooling. The monthly sales volume is about 500,000 units. Its maximum battery service time can reach about 10 hours per charge." [Voice_over] Another fan maker in Shenzhen City says they’ve seen exports to markets in Africa double this year. In these markets, the factory manager says, electricity can be scarce, so battery-powered solar-rechargeable devices are crucial. [Sound_bite] Zhao Xiping, manager, fan factory: "Africa is lack of electricity, but solar energy is widely available there. Our products have built-in batteries that can be charged with solar energy. This year, our exports have doubled." [Voice_over] According to the latest data, the export value of electric fans in Shenzhen surpassed 800 million U.S. dollars in the first seven months of the year.
