Storyline: Diverse measures facilitate smoother cross-border trade in China [Voice_over] Diverse cross-border trade measures have been implemented across some of China’s busiest port and export locations, helping to maintain and improve the quality of the country's foreign trade. In east China's Fujian Pilot Free Trade Zone, a service platform has been launched that lets enterprises in Fujian Province apply for and obtain certificate of origin declarations. Meanwhile, in east China's Shandong Province, the “single bill of landing” model is employed through the Qingdao Port. The process allows goods being shipped from inland locations to clear customs and inspections first, before being moved by rail to seaports where the process would have normally taken place. So far this year, the process has helped the port handle 1.74 million TEUs of rail-sea intermodal cargo, a 13 percent increase compared to last year. Trade officials say together, the country’s trade measures have ensured smooth and improved export and import processes. Next, we will expand reforms to energize foreign trade and better integrate Chinese goods into global supply chains.” [Voice_over] Another measure released nationwide in China: a one-stop cross-border mail clearance platform to facilitate sending items by mail. Officials say the platform has already been used to clear more than 90,000 mail items for international shipping which has reduced clearance time by roughly five hours per package.
