"Episode 32 of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption began at 6:35 a.m. local time," according to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. The vortices carried volcanic pieces of pumice up to 1000 feet (approximately 304 meters) into the air, the observatory said. The eruption ended when the south and middle vents quit erupting at 8:01 p.m. Kilauea, recognized as the youngest and most active volcano on the island of Hawaii, has been erupting almost continuously since 1983. It is regarded as one of the most dynamic and closely monitored volcanoes in the world.
