Python caught on camera slithering into home as pet dog sleeps
This is the terrifying moment a python was caught on camera slithering toward a home while a pet dog slept.
The Chow Chow, named Chuchu, was lounging in the garage when the 5ft (1.5m) snake slithered from a bushy vacant area toward the house in Rizal, the Philippines.
Nerve-wracking CCTV footage shows the nine-year-old canine lying on the floor as the predator crawls through the gap in the gate on the morning of August 28.
The stealthy serpent can be seen climbing the door while the unsuspecting dog rests.
Moments later, Chuchu woke up to find the snake attempting to enter the house.
The curious dog slowly approached the reptile, but the threatened python lunged forward, causing terrified Chuchu to dash to safety.
Chuchu then stood behind a pink sedan parked in the garage, while the python continued climbing the door.
However, the main entryway was closed, prompting the snake to eventually retreat.
Worried homeowner Imee Palma Rys said: 'I decided to review the CCTV footage and was shocked to find a massive snake trying to enter our house.
'It was creepy because the snake seemed intent on getting inside, almost as if it knew people were home and knew where to enter. I thank God that my dog was safe and unharmed.'
Imee called animal rescuers to locate the python, but they were unable to find it. Instead, they spotted a cobra hiding in the bushes.
Pythons are non-venomous constrictors known for ambushing their prey and wrapping around it to suffocate it.
These snakes often wander into residential areas in search of food, especially during the hot season when their natural habitats are disturbed.
