THE HAGUE, NETHERLANDS - SEPT. 3: Appeal hearings began on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at The Hague Court of Appeal in a case filed by 10 civil society organizations in the Netherlands seeking to cut ties with Israel.

In November 2024, a coalition of ten Dutch NGOs filed an emergency lawsuit against the government in The Hague seeking an immediate halt to military exports to Israel.

However, in its ruling last December, the Dutch court rejected the lawsuit filed by the NGOs.

At today’s hearing, the organizations are seeking to have that decision overturned.

The groups argue that continued arms shipments make the Netherlands complicit in what they describe as genocide in Gaza and are calling for all existing export licenses to be revoked.

The case underscores growing public and legal pressure on Dutch authorities to reassess their role in the conflict.

Israel has killed nearly 62,300 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
