A lead flag bearer of the Guard of Honor formation for China's grand military parade in Beijing on Wednesday has remarked that the formation's flawless performance was the result of relentless efforts to perfect every movement. The parade, held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, unfolded in two segments -- the review and the march-past. In the march-past, the Guard of Honor formation led the foot formations as they marched past Tian'anmen Square. Shi Bin was one of the three flag bearers of the formation, who carried the flags of the Communist Party of China, the People's Republic of China, and the People's Liberation Army. He emphasized the importance of considering various factors during their training for the event in order to ensure that the flags were displayed at their best. To make sure they were fully prepared, the bearers rehearsed all possible contingency plans. "Considering the weather conditions, such as wind and other factors, we added a pushing motion to the original flag-waving technique to better display the flags at the event. We also gently lowered the flags to enhance the solemnity of the ceremony," said Shi. To lead the parade was a great honor for the soldiers, but the task also came with hefty responsibility. "As the lead flag bearer in the formation, it may appear glamorous from the outside, but the three of us did feel significant pressure. Our training involved extensive creative thinking and countless repetitions to refine our performance," Shi said. SHOTLIST: Beijing, China - Sept 3, 2025 1.
