This is the terrifying moment a massive landslide crashes onto the road in front of stunned drivers in China.

Footage shows huge chunks of debris tumbling down the route, with several cars nearby in Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, on Tuesday, September 2.

A cloud of dust surrounded the area on the Xiangdao Highway, which runs from Shangri-La to Daocheng Yading.

The filmer said: 'We encountered a landslide only 80 kilometres from Daocheng. We had to drive back the same way for five or six hours to Shangri-La. From there, we took National Highway 215, but encountered another landslide, making it two landslides in one day.

'It has been the rainy season in western Sichuan recently, with frequent heavy rains, which led to the landslides, but there were no casualties.'

Rocks and debris completely blocked the mountain road.

Authorities promptly arrived at the scene to begin a clearing operation. It remains unclear whether there were any injuries or damaged vehicles.
