Floods destroyed a concrete road, leaving villagers stranded in northern Thailand.

Footage shows a 1,312ft (400m) stretch of road collapsing into the Nan River in Phitsanulok province on September 2.

Authorities said the river level reached 32ft today - the highest recorded in 14 years.

Village council leader Wanchakree Klinyaem said the riverbank, on which three homes and a rice mill stand, was being eroded by the rising waters.

The damaged section of the road has been closed to traffic, and a temporary detour has been created for commuters.

Residents said they were monitoring the situation and preparing to evacuate.

The Thai Meteorological Department on Sunday said that Tropical Storm Nongfah was moving into Thailand as a strong low-pressure system.

Combined with an intensifying southwest monsoon, the weather system is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall across 43 provinces over the next one to two days.

Authorities warned residents to constantly monitor weather updates.
