This is the adorable moment a pet dog patiently waited for a toddler to stand up after stumbling on the ground.

Ms Liu was walking with her daughter and their Corgi on the narrow pathway when the young girl tripped in Sichuan, China.

Footage shows the child chasing the black canine as she giggles with excitement.

Moments later, she fell on the pavement on her stomach. She then stared at the visibly confused pooch looking at her.

The motionless toddler prompted the concerned dog to approach her, wagging its tail.

The Corgi then stood in front of the girl as she slowly picked herself up.

In a heartwarming gesture, the girl embraced the dog and kissed it on the head before walking toward her mother.

Ms Liu can be heard laughing at the touching scene as the pair come straight at her.
