China: Low-altitude tourism soars in south China's Shenzhen
Storyline: Low-altitude tourism soars in south China's Shenzhen [Voice_over] This summer, low-altitude sightseeing is flying high as a preferred activity in southern China's Shenzhen City of Guangdong Province. Once a niche experience, more opportunities are now available, giving residents and visitors alike the chance to view the skyline and explore the bay from the clouds. Ms. Zhou said she and her 11-year-old son had a great time on their helicopter flight, especially when they got to use the headphones. [Sound_bite] Duan Yichuan, tourist: "The flight was incredibly fun. I'd love to do it ten more times. The helicopter felt much smoother than a regular passenger plane. Wearing headphones to communicate was creative and novel. And the view was stunning: we could see the ocean and containers from above." [Voice_over] Several airlines from Shenzhen are also getting in on the low-altitude economy by offering special sightseeing routes for the summer. [Sound_bite] Liang Jin, head, Operations Control Department, Shenzhen-based Airline: "Our order volume increased by approximately 30 percent year-on-year. Around 60 percent of our customers were families with children." [Voice_over] According to Guangdong government officials, the value of the province's low-altitude economy now exceeds 14 billion U.S. dollars. [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
