This is the heart-stopping moment a motorcycle rider survived as she dodged an overturning truck.

The motorist was waiting at a U-turn in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, when the out-of-control vehicle barreled towards her on September 2.

Dashcam footage shows the truck's container, loaded with seafood, toppling and grazing the driver's helmeted head before smashing into an oncoming car.

Water and fish tumbled onto the road as the female rider miraculously escaped with minor injuries.

Sung Noen Police Station said two people suffered abrasions. Their vehicles were both severely damaged.

Authorities briefly closed Mittraphap Road as they spent 30 minutes clearing the road. The driver was questioned and released without any further action, while his employer picked up the bill for the damage through their insurance company.

Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
