This is the dramatic moment onlookers fled as waves crashed against a wall, sending seawater surging onto a road.

Footage shows the sudden swell hitting the crowd standing by the barrier, prompting them to fall back immediately at the Qiantang River in Hangzhou, China.

Some hurried individuals can be seen slipping on the pavement and being swept by the murky water on September 2.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

The Qiantang River Tide attracts thousands of tourists yearly due to its famous tidal bore. The phenomenon occurs when ocean tides forcefully surge into the river's narrow mouth, creating massive waves that can reach heights of up to 30 ft (9 m).
