Despite the risks, Ibrahim Abbas, 15, Hasan Kallaub, 18, and Muhannad al-Qara, 16, went to the southern Moraj area in hopes of finding food amid the blockade and shortages. They sustained severe injuries in the Israeli assault, including head wounds, with some suffering partial paralysis, according to doctors.

The children are also facing complications from malnutrition and are receiving treatment under limited conditions at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.

Since March 2, Israeli authorities have completely closed all Gaza border crossings, pushing the territory’s 2.4 million population into famine.

A UN-backed food security assessment has already confirmed famine in northern Gaza and expects it to spread further south by the end of September.

The Israeli army has launched a brutal military offensive on the Gaza Strip, killing more than 64,200 Palestinians in Gaza. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
