CENTENNIAL, Colo. — Arapahoe County deputies safely rescued a raccoon that fell into a homeowner’s fireplace Tuesday night.

Dispatchers received a call around 9:30 p.m. Sept. 2 from a woman on South Marion Street who reported the animal was stuck inside her chimney. Deputies Nguyen and Young arrived first, soon joined by Deputy Lorino, and together they devised a plan to safely remove the frightened raccoon.

Using a blanket, the deputies were able to gently capture the animal and relocate it outside. Officials said the raccoon was not injured and quickly ran off after being released.

The sheriff’s office shared the unusual call with a lighthearted reminder: no “trash talking” about the rescued critter.
