NCCC (Northumberland County Communications Center) dispatched a 1st alarm working structure fire with fire showing at a former Meth Lab located at 26 East Sunbury Str. (Rt. 61) Shamokin, Pa.As this structure was the center structure in a row of homes the call was immediately upgraded to a 2nd alarm status with 3rd alarm quickly to follow and the 4th alarm placed on stand-by and cover assignments bringing units from 3 counties together to form a united effort at this incident.Patrolman Raymond Siko II, Samokin fire investigator, requested a state police fire investigator and a canine unit to the scene.Shamokin Battalion Fire Chief Steve Jeffrey confirms the fire was likely to have originated in the same structure as meth bust on March 23rd.Multiple Neighbors across the street reported hearing a loud “boom” and “Popping” coming from the structure at the start of this incident and discovered the fire blowing out of side “A” on the 1st and 2nd division when they went outside to investigate.News reports Francine Derr, alerted nearby residents by banging on doors prior to the fire department’s arrival 20:39 command ordered evacuation of the main fire structures. Flames could be seen as FF vented the structure at 32 E. Sunbury St. 21:15 hrs. The roof of the main fire building started to collapse with the fire being brought under control around 9:30 hrs. with the long process of overhaul starting. Local media reports 1 FF was treated at the scene for burns to the face.This fire has been ruled suspicious if you have any information please call police at 570-648-5708.Rt 61 was closed in the area of the fire for a little over 6 hours.40 - 45mph winds became a factor at this incident.
