[...] There is an urgent need for pressure from the international community and international organizations to ensure the entry of these treatments, as the lack of medicines poses a serious threat to patients’ lives. Daily deaths are increasing, and the crisis continues to worsen due to the absence of necessary medicines for the elderly and chronically ill."DEIR AL-BALAH, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - SEPT. 5: Patients in the Gaza Strip are deprived of the most basic medicines for their treatments due to the ongoing Israeli blockade, causing an unprecedented health crisis and putting many lives at great risk. Chronic patients with conditions such as cancer, diabetes, and hypertension have had to stop their treatments due to medicine shortage as pharmacies and hospitals in the central Gaza Strip's Deir Al-Balah are depleted of most of the required medications. A pharmacy owner, Sami Shahin said that dozens of vital medicines have not been available for weeks. Khalil Al-Dakran, spokesperson for Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, said that the occupation prevents the entry of vaccines for children, leaving them exposed to serious risks. He emphasized that the number of deaths due to the lack of medicine is increasing and that the crisis continues to worsen. Data published in recent weeks indicate that access to medicine in Gaza’s hospitals is limited, with 300,000 chronic patients at risk due to medicine shortages, and 6,758 of them having died as a result of the lack of medication. Israel has been deliberately targeting health centers and hospitals in the Gaza Strip, destroying the healthcare infrastructure. So far, 590 healthcare workers, including 157 doctors, were killed in Israeli attacks, and 183 ambulances have been targeted. Israel has killed more than 64,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave. Writing by Ayse Elif Erdis
