HARTSVILLE, Tenn. — Trousdale County deputies arrested a driver Wednesday after a pursuit that began in Smith County and ended with a Precision Immobilization Technique on Highway 25 East.

Around 2 p.m. Sept. 3, Smith County deputies reported they were chasing a black Mustang with Kentucky tags. As the pursuit entered Trousdale County, a deputy attempted to deploy spike strips near Lattie Reese Road. Police said the driver swerved toward the deputy and accelerated.

Another deputy then performed a PIT maneuver to bring the pursuit to a stop. The driver was taken into custody without further incident and transported to jail.

Charges include assault against a law enforcement officer, evading arrest by motor vehicle, reckless driving, improper passing, no registration and no insurance. The Mustang was impounded, and the driver faces additional charges in Smith County. A hearing is scheduled in General Sessions Court.
