Flooding from Hurricane Lorena left widespread destruction in Mexico, with residents and authorities now beginning the clean-up.

Footage shows locals working alongside officials to clear thick mud that covered roads in Los Cabos.

Damaged cars and debris were pulled from the sludge, while bulldozers were deployed to speed up the removal of blockages.

Crews focused on removing debris from streets and hospitals to reopen transportation and communication routes.

The National Guard said: ‘In BCS, the Guardia Nacional activated Plan DN-III-E to help the population affected by the heavy rains in Los Cabos caused by Hurricane Lorena.

‘Coordinating with civil protection authorities, debris is being removed from streets and hospitals, and vehicles stranded in different areas are being moved.'
