VARIOUS OF PEOPLE, AND VEHICLES LOADED WITH BELONGINGS OF DISPLACED PALESTINIANS MOVING ON ROADSGAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - SEPTEMBER 6: Dozens of families fled Gaza City toward central and southern Gaza on Saturday, Sept. 6, following an Israeli military order to evacuate and the announcement of expanded ground operations. Anadolu videoed a significant wave of displacement along the coastal Al-Rashid Street, with families moving amid immense suffering and fear. The exodus intensified after the Israeli army announced it was expanding its "ground maneuver" in the city as part of "Operation Chariots of Gideon 2." It also declared Al-Mawasi in Khan Younis a "humanitarian zone." The order came after the army stated it would intensify bombing of multi-story buildings, claiming Hamas uses them for military purposes. Despite the evacuation directive, many Palestinians insisted on remaining in the city. Streets were filled with vehicles, animal-drawn carts, and pedestrians carrying belongings and tents. Fear was visible on the faces of women, children, and the elderly. The Israeli army claimed the Al-Mawasi zone contains field hospitals and aid infrastructure. However, UN reports and field testimonies indicate such zones lack basic necessities like water, food, and effective medical services. Displaced Palestinians in the south rely on limited aid amid Israeli restrictions on humanitarian access.
