The attack targeted crowds waiting for humanitarian assistance in the enclave, where deaths from hunger have been rising due to restrictions imposed on aid entry.
The wounded were taken to Gaza’s Shifa Hospital, where many were treated on the floor due to overcrowding. Among those injured was Mohammed Masoud, a young Palestinian who spoke about the attack.
Israel has so far declined to respond to the latest ceasefire proposal by mediators, with Netanyahu giving orders to the Israeli army to proceed with a plan to occupy Gaza City.
Israel has killed more than 64,300 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
