COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — A Commerce City police officer is being credited with helping stop a fleeing robbery suspect’s vehicle using stop sticks during a multiagency pursuit.

The chase entered Commerce City at high speed before Officer Rahn positioned himself near East 104th and Highway 2. With quick timing, he deployed stop sticks as the suspect’s car approached.

The suspect’s vehicle ran over the device, deflating two tires and bringing the pursuit to an end in Thornton. The suspect was taken into custody by the pursuing agency, and two handguns were recovered.

The department praised Rahn for his “arm, aim and auspicious timing,” noting the decisive action prevented further danger to the community.
