ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office K9 helped track down a man who fled a traffic stop on Interstate 95, officials said.

Deputies pulled over a speeding truck on Aug. 18 when two passengers ran from the vehicle into nearby woods. K9 Daisy Mae joined the search and successfully followed a trail through heavy brush and water, leading deputies to one suspect hiding in the woods between I-95 and State Road 16.

The second passenger was not located. Deputies arrested the driver for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and the passenger for resisting without violence.

The sheriff’s office praised Daisy Mae for her persistence and effectiveness during the extensive search.
