This is the heartwarming moment a kind restaurant owner gave a free meal to a starving young man who had not eaten for two days.

Tai was closing up her roadside shop in Samut Sakhon, Thailand, when the 20-year-old college student approached her on August 31.

He sheepishly asked for some rice, claiming he had gone two days without food.

Taking pity on him, Tai offered him a seat and served up a bowl of steaming rice and some leftover beef stew for free.

CCTV footage shows the hungry student scooping spoonfuls of meat into his mouth as he contentedly tucked into his meal.

Tai said: ‘The man was 20 years old. He asked for a dish of rice when I was tidying up my store. I asked what he would eat it with, but he answered that he wanted only rice, as he had not eaten anything for two days.

‘I treated him because I had some leftover stewed beef, so I let him eat as much as he wanted.

‘After he finished eating, he helped me close the shop. After that, I gave him a ride to his house which we would pass on my way home.'
