This is the heartwarming moment a kind traffic cop gave a free ride to a pensioner walking on the roadside in Thailand.

Police Sergeant Major Piya Si-ouan was on patrol when he noticed the elderly man making his way to a bus station in Bangkok on July 7.

Worried he might collapse in the midday heat, the considerate officer offered him a ride.

The old man politely declined at first, but Piya insisted: ‘That's a long walk. I can give you a ride. I'm heading that way anyway.'

The pedestrian, who had just returned from a trip to the market, gratefully accepted.

Footage shows Piya dropping him off at his stop, with the man bowing to him in thanks.

The cop said: 'I dropped him off at the next bus stop. It was much farther from the previous one, but I know the bus would definitely stop there.'
