Phoenix, United States - September 07, 2025 09/06/2025 11:00 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – An Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a KIA crossover SUV on Camelback Road, west of I-17, at approximately 11:00 p.m. The driver of the vehicle refused to yield, and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle continued west on Camelback Road, maintaining speeds between 45 and 50 mph. The suspect made a northbound turn onto 35th Avenue from Camelback as additional troopers joined the pursuit. A short time later, the suspect made a westbound turn onto Bethany Home Road. A trooper performed a physical immobilization technique (PIT) on the vehicle as the suspect approached 43rd Avenue. The vehicle spun out but regained control and attempted to flee. A second trooper approached and performed a second PIT, allowing additional troopers to pin the vehicle in place from multiple angles. A high-risk traffic stop was initiated, and the driver, an adult female, was ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint. She was quickly taken into custody without further incident. The situation resulted in a brief closure for westbound and eastbound Bethany Home Road between 41st and 43rd Avenues.
