This is the terrifying moment tourists were left stranded on a rollercoaster after it suddenly stopped mid-ride in Taiwan.

Footage shows the attraction stuck on the tracks at a steep 45-degree angle, with 15 distressed parkgoers waiting to be rescued at the E-DA Theme Park in Kaohsiung.

Reports said the popular half-pipe skateboard-style coaster remained suspended for around three minutes before operators manually brought it back down.

Known for its thrilling 120-second experience, the coaster soars through the sky before plunging back down, making it a favourite among younger visitors.

Officials said the stoppage was not caused by a mechanical fault, but was triggered by an 'abnormal signal' as part of the automatic safety system.

They explained that such signals can be caused by passengers' belongings falling into restricted areas, or by environmental factors like dust interfering with sensors. The system is designed to halt the attraction immediately when any irregularities are detected.

The ride reopened roughly an hour later after a full safety inspection confirmed it was safe to operate on Thursday, September 4.
