China: Chongqing expo showcases future trend of AI-Industrial Internet integration in reshaping manufacturing
Storyline: The just concluded 2025 World Smart Industry Expo has showcased the integration of industrial Internet and artificial intelligence (AI) as a future trend reshaping traditional manufacturing. By connecting data across the full chain of production, the industrial Internet improves efficiency in both manufacturing and factory management. Applications are already seen in automobile production, home appliances, and component manufacturing. Exhibitors showcased cases where 5G and industrial AI platforms cut costs and boosted efficiency, underscoring how smart technologies are becoming a core engine for high-quality industrial development. "Our 5G-based unified industrial control platform simplifies system architecture for automobile manufacturing, cutting costs by 20 percent and raising efficiency by another 20 percent," said Zhou Hua, an exhibitor at the event. Exhibitors say AI technologies are also injecting new momentum into industrial internet applications. Industrial AI agents can promptly detect equipment abnormalities through anomaly diagnosis and leverage large language models and knowledge bases to identify causes and implement repairs, thereby enhancing factory management efficiency, according to them The four-day expo, held in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality from Sept 5 - 8, spans an indoor exhibition venue of 130,000 square meters and an outdoor venue of 40,000 square meters, with this year's focus on the themes "AI+" and "Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicles." It has brought together more than 600 domestic and international businesses to showcase innovations across various sectors, including autonomous driving, smart homes and the low-altitude economy.
