NASSER HOSPITAL DOCTOR, AHED JABR KHALEF, SPEAKING TO REPORTER (Arabic)GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - SEP. 8: An eighteen-month-old Palestinian boy, Eymen Mohammed Abdulghafour, died from severe malnutrition at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, underscoring the toll of the Israeli blockade. He was the only child of the Abdulghafour family, born after five years of waiting through IVF treatment, and had also been battling cerebral palsy caused by congenital oxygen deprivation. Doctors said Gaza’s collapsing health system and chronic shortages of food and medicine deprived him of the care he needed to survive. According to Gaza's Health Ministry, 387 people, including 138 children, died of severe malnutrition and starvation in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. Israel has killed more than 64,000 Palestinians in its brutal offensive in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
