Furious dentist attacks customer with weightlifting bar for 'complaining about braces'
This is the shocking moment a furious dentist allegedly attacked a customer who complained about her newly-fitted braces.
Doctor Nguyen Thi Tuyet Chinh was angry when patient Tien Thao, 31, demanded a refund for what she claimed was a botched procedure on September 3.
CCTV footage shows the enraged dentist wielding a barbell bar as she emerged from her office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
She pointed the gym equipment at Tien's face before dragging her off the sofa and hurling her Apple iPhone to the floor.
An onlooker intervened, but the rampaging medical professional continued screaming and throwing items across the lobby, even hurling a mug at terrified Tien.
Tien was treated for neck injuries and scratches to her neck, arms, and shoulders at the Hoan My Hospital as police investigate the alleged attack.
She said: 'I was unhappy with the work the dentist did. It was causing me a lot of pain.
'Another dentist confirmed that the work was very bad, that's why I went to ask for a refund, because it would cost me more to fix.
'I was scared when the dentist started to attack me. It was unfair, I didn't do anything wrong.'
Tien told police she paid 22 million VND (615 GBP) for braces at the clinic in 2021.
However, she reportedly began suffering severe pain after having her braces removed in August. She claimed she was diagnosed with bone damage at another clinic.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health inspected the clinic following the incident.
They confirmed it had a valid business registration and license to operate, but found several issues and closed down the surgery.
The department said: 'The inspection team noted many violations at the clinic. These included not ensuring the conditions of facilities after being granted an operating license, providing medical examination and treatment services beyond the scope of expertise stated in the license, not making records and medical records according to the form prescribed by law, and advertising medical examination and treatment services that are not within the scope of professional activities stated in the license.
'In addition, three medical examination and treatment staff at the clinic have not provided medical examination and treatment practice certificates.
'Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has decided to temporarily suspend the operation of the Dental and Maxillofacial Clinic of Tuyet Chinh Dental Clinic.'
The Hanh Thong Ward Police said they were continuing to collect evidence while investigating the incident.
