This is the amusing moment a clever cat was spotted perching atop a door to escape her playful sibling.

Gandara, the Persian feline, climbed onto the wooden door to stay out of reach of her companion, Kalkatok, in Manila, the Philippines.

Footage shows the three-year-old kitty comfortably lounging on the top edge of the barrier while her playmate looks up, patiently waiting for her to hop down on August 22.

Pet owner Princess Lacena said: 'The cats were playing chase and eventually stopped when Gandara climbed up the door to take a rest.

'Gandara loves to stay in high and unusual places, such as on top of kitchen cabinets, room cabinets, high-mounted or overhead bookshelves, and even in between window gaps.

'She is a gentle and intelligent cat. She already knows that doors open when you turn the doorknob. Although she hasn't succeeded in turning one yet, she has figured out how to open doors that aren't tightly closed.'
