This is the heartwarming moment a husband was overjoyed when his paralysed wife climbed out of a car unaided.

Mr Wei saw his partner, Xiao Fei, 25, exit the white hatchback while he was taking out her wheelchair from the vehicle in Henan, China.

CCTV footage shows the man gasping in delight as he walks towards his partner, who was leaning on the four-wheeler.

His mother-in-law then approached them and helped him assist Xiao Fei to sit in the medical chair.

Local media reported that Xiao Fei's paralysis stemmed from a severe accident more than two years ago, when a drunk driver hit her at a crosswalk, resulting in second-degree severe injuries.

Despite cognitive impairments, a difficult recovery, and rising medical expenses, her husband has continued to support her treatment, with future rehabilitation costs estimated at one million Chinese Yuan (103,918 GBP).
