China: 25 new achievements debut at service trade fair opening day

Storyline: Twelve companies and institutions unveiled 25 new achievements spanning e-commerce, artificial intelligence, online consumption and other fields on Wednesday at the 2025 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) in Beijing. The fair, themed "embrace intelligent technologies, empower trade in services," will be held from Wednesday to Sunday. It has attracted nearly 2,000 companies to participate, and more than 190 new products and applications, which represent the latest achievements in global services trade, are set to debut throughout the five-day fair. "This time we're here with our AI-driven educational information technology solutions, in the hope to explore the potential benefits of AI technology for basic education," said Lu Xin, an exhibitor. "We've come with two new services this year, which are to use AI technology to provide reliable, personalized, and highly cost-effective travel recommendations," said Shi Ke, another exhibitor. "The CIFTIS has successfully run 11 editions and it greets yet another major opportunity for adjustment and transformation this year. The CIFTIS is now the world's only comprehensive, international exhibition platform for trade in services. In terms of promoting global cooperation in trade in services, it has become an important platform for expanding opening, deepening cooperation, and leading innovation," said Zhao Qizhou, director of the Beijing International Service Trade Affairs Center. This year's CIFTIS will host 13 thematic forums and more than 80 special forums, release the report on China's services trade development and other documents, and launch more than 40 supporting activities. Exhibitors representing 85 countries across five continents and various international organizations are participating in this year's fair, 25 of them have set up a booth in thematic exhibitions. Australia is the guest country of honor at the fair this year, and it has sent the largest-ever delegation consisting 59 companies to the event. They will engage in a full range of activities including exhibitions, business talks, corporate matchmaking, and various side events. Data show that in 2024, China's services trade volume exceeded one trillion U.S. dollars for the first time, ranking second in the world. In the first half of this year, the country's total import and export of services rose eight percent from 2024 to 3.9 trillion yuan (about 547.64 billion U.S. dollars), setting a new record for the same period.
