The exercise simulated retaking a position seized by armed groups and securing the landing of naval infantry along the coast.
According to the ministry, fast boats ferried special units ashore for reconnaissance, while the large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk provided artillery support against designated targets. A Ka-27 helicopter was also used to deploy marines on the coastline.
Later, the large landing ship Aleksandr Otrakovsky moved in to unload armored vehicles, an UR-77 mine-clearing system, and amphibious carriers. Engineers practiced clearing passages through simulated minefields as part of the drill.
