GAZA, PALESTINE - SEPTEMBER 10: Palestinians in Gaza are enduring a daily struggle for survival, described as a "death march," as they venture out under threat of Israeli fire in a desperate attempt to secure food aid from designated corridors, amid a crippling siege and widespread famine.

The daily ordeal begins at dawn, with citizens traversing areas claimed by the Israeli army to be "safe corridors" for relief access. However, these journeys are undertaken under the constant threat of sniper fire and drone strikes. While some return with meager supplies, many others are forced to return empty-handed or are killed in the process.

The humanitarian catastrophe is severely exacerbated by the near-total inability of aid organizations to distribute assistance effectively. Israeli authorities have insisted on closing border crossings and preventing international institutions from carrying out their relief operations, a move critics say constitutes a blatant defiance of international law.

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, Anadolu camera captured hundreds of desperate Palestinians on the roads in Gaza, heading toward humanitarian aid distribution points with the faint hope of receiving food.

At least 64,605 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, as six more people died of starvation in the besieged enclave, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

The ministry also noted that 14 Palestinians were killed and over 37 others injured by Israeli army fire while trying to get humanitarian aid in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed while seeking aid to 2,444, with over 17,831 others wounded since May 27.

The ministry said that six more Palestinians died of malnutrition and starvation in the last 24 hours. This brought the famine-linked death toll since October 2023 to 399 people, including 140 children.

According to the ministry, 121 of the deaths, 25 of them children, occurred after the UN-backed hunger monitoring system Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) formally declared Gaza a famine zone last month.

Since March 2, Israeli authorities have completely closed all Gaza border crossings, pushing the territory’s 2.4 million population into famine.

The Israeli army resumed its attacks on the Gaza Strip on March 18 and has since killed 12,059 people and injured 51,278 others, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
