Longbridge Fire: More than 60 Firefighters Respond to Huge Tyre Warehouse Blaze near Birmingham

A significant fire broke out at a tyre warehouse in Longbridge, Birmingham, drawing over 60 firefighters to the scene.

Twelve fire engines, 2 hydraulic platforms, and support units responded to the blaze near the former MG Rover site on Wednesday night into the early hours of Thursday 11 September.

The blaze took hold of Frankley Tyre warehouse near the old West Works MG Rover factory land.

Twelve fire engines, 2 hydraulic platforms, the incident command unit and various other resources from the police, Cadent and the National Grid were present.

Flames licked the building as walls collapsed with firefighters spraying water on with hoses.

West Midlands Fire Service said in a post on Facebook: ‘We have 12 crews in attendance at a fire on West Works Way, Longbridge. As a precaution, if you live or work nearby, please keep doors and windows closed.

'Avoid the area, where possible.

'Bristol Road South heading towards the city will be closed for some time.
