Shortly after 23:00 a 2nd Alarm Fire was dispatched by NCCC for an apartment building fire located at 704 N. Shamokin Street, Shamokin, PA. Upon arrival on scene FF attacked the fire limiting its spread.Stacey Boscolovich, reported the fire to Northumberland County Communications via 911 after hearing someone yelling FIRE! Stacy stated, I heard boys yelling, fire, fire, fire! When I looked outside I saw smoke and called 911. Stacy is credited with alerting the building occupants to the fire as she proceeded to knock on the Fire building and neighboring buildings alerting residents.FF confirmed that everyone did escape unharmed.Firefighters battled the fire from inside and outside using several hose lines to extinguish the fire. At one point, firefighters broke windows from the back of the building, causing a firefighter to suffer a minor injury. That firefighter refused treatment after being looked at by paramedics.Shamokin Assistant Fire Chief Bruce Rodgers stated, The fire originated in the rear of the structure and caused damage to the 2nd and 3rd floor.Responding were the Shamokin Fire Bureau, Coal Township Engines 111 and 151, Overlook Engine 294, Kulpmont Engine 221 and Squad 222, Mount Carmel Truck 2 along with Shamokin fire police.Represented by newsflare.com
