The Garnet Fire, sparked by lightning on August 24 in the Sierra National Forest near Garnet Dike, central California has burned about 57,000 acres and is 15% contained. Fire activity remains intense, particularly on the northwestern front, where crews are struggling with steep terrain that limits the use of heavy equipment.

Mandatory evacuation orders are in place for multiple zones, with warnings in surrounding areas. Road closures affect McKinley Grove Road and sections of Trimmer Springs Road.
