Los Angeles, United States - September 11, 2025 09/10/2025 05:20 pm GMT-0700 NORTH HILLS, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Division officers responded early Wednesday evening to reports of a Hispanic male, approximately 35 years old, seen wielding a gun and a beer bottle while walking along Parthenia Street and Orion Avenue. An LAPD airship above directed the ground units to the suspect's location, according to the LAPD. During the encounter with the man on Parthenia Street at the 405 Freeway underpass, police issued a call for assistance when shots were fired, hitting the gunman. The man was taken into custody and transported by paramedics to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, stated the LAPD on X. The suspect's weapon remained at the scene and was collected as evidence. It is currently unclear whether the gunman fired his weapon first or how the situation escalated to the point of an officer-involved shooting. The LAPD reported that no officers or community members were injured during the incident. The information regarding this incident is preliminary as investigators continue to review video, interview witnesses and officers involved. Parthenia was closed from Orion Avenue to Haskell during the investigation.
