At 11 a.m. local time, alerts were sent to mobile phones across the country with a test message reading, “Emergency alarm. Test warning for Nationwide Warning Day 2025 – Germany. No danger.”

Announcements were also broadcast on radio and television, while sirens sounded in several cities.

The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) said the exercise, held every second Thursday of September, aims to test warning systems and raise public awareness about emergency preparedness.
